Glacier hiking on blue ice, professional photography, film making, ice climbing, visiting an ice cave (season and conditions dependent) luxury excursions, catering for people with specific needs such as families with children or people with disabilities are just some examples of our guiding specialties which will require a private booking.

Glacier and Volcano Expeditions are lucky to have the opportunity and ability to guide our tours on several different outlet glaciers within Vatnajökull National Park so we will always choose the most suitable glacier to guide each day. We are a small company with a simple structure so we have the flexibility to easily change plans as conditions change. Should you have any special requests for your private tour (such as an easy family-friendly glacier tour) we can adapt the tour itinerary and visit the most suitable glacier to do our best to accommodate.

The meeting location and beginning of the tour

Please arrive early for your tour at Our meeting location which is a glacier view point parking lot.

There is no sign that will lead you to our meeting location.

To get there you will need to navigate via google maps and drive down a gravel road off the side of the ring road route 1. Look for the white Ford Transit van with the chimney. Please note that this gravel road is rocky and has potholes. Regular cars can and do drive on this road every day, however SUV cars or other higher clearance vehicles are recommended. Please note that Glacier and Volcano Expeditions are not responsible for any damage to your vehicle as a result of driving on the road to our meeting location.

There are no opportunities to use the bathroom at any point during this tour as it is a wilderness experience. Please use the bathroom before the tour begins. (You will be able to pee in the wilderness during the tour as long as you do not leave paper on the ground.
