Iceland Glacier Walk
Description
The Iceland Glacier Walk is the perfect tour for those who wish to experience the beauty of an Icelandic glacier and still have enough time for other activities that same day.
A perfect tour for school and family groups, Glacier and Volcano Expeditions operate this tour on request for large group reservations of eight or more persons per booking.
The Iceland Glacier Walk begins with a hike on a scenic trail through the green mossy valley and up to the front of the glacier. Once crampons are strapped tight on your boots, you will be able to easily walk on the ice. Heading up the glacier, you will enjoy the stunning views surrounding you from all angles.
Whilst keeping you safe, the guides will also be on the lookout for interesting ice formations for you to photograph and admire. You will learn how the glacier and its formations are created and why Vatnajökull is a very unique place. Whilst walking at a relaxing pace you will eventually complete a loop on the ice and then safely return to the starting point.
The Iceland Glacier Walk is a great introduction to an Icelandic glacier and suitable for most people with approximately three hours spent on the ice.

To get there you will need to drive down a gravel road that has no sign off the side of the ring road route 1. It will be easiest to navigate there with google maps. Look for the white Ford Transit van with the chimney. Please note that this road is rocky and has potholes. Normal cars are usually fine to drive on this road.
There are no opportunities to use the bathroom at any point during this tour as it is a wilderness experience. Please use the bathroom before the tour begins. (You will be able to pee in the wilderness during the tour as long as you do not leave paper on the ground.)
